Wednesdays 8.00pm to 10.00 pm 10/6-12/15 in Washington, DC a workshop series taught by GWSB faculty member Kathy Korman Frey in cooperation with the George Washington University School of Business, Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence. Prof Frey is the founder of the Hot Mommas Project award-winning women's leadership initiative, and faculty at the George Washington University School of Business.
This class is designed for women aged 18 to 30 and women interested in an intro to entrepreneurship.

Summary: In this class, students learn core lessons from the award-winning Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Class.The class was profiled in a Washington Post Article, "CEO of ME, Inc." Proceeds from this class directly benefit research from the Hot Mommas Project, a women's leadership research project housed at the George Washington University School of Business, Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence.
Course components:

25% Leadership/Group work. Students work as a team and submit their assignments weekly on the blog. Topics include basics of professional communication, idea generation, market research, and SWOT (strength, weakness, opportunity, and threat) analysis.

25% Mentorship Skills. Each student must interview a mentor, and post the results on the blog.

25% Business Idea and Presentation. Students make a two minute presentation at the end of the semester on their business idea.

25% Attendance and Participation. Students are required to attend class, and participate regularly, as part of their commitment to their own future, and to create a feeling of trust and support in the classroom environment.

Extra: Writing “Hot Mommas Project” case. A case is a teachable story. Hot Mommas is the world’s largest collection of women’s case studies. Students are asked to write their lessons, reflect on their path, and act as a mentors to others in doing so.
“I got more confident, I started to believe in myself, my vocabulary expanded. I realized that I definitely want to open up a business. You can make your ideas a reality and it’s you who is leading in the way you would like. My favorite part was definitely the presentation because I could be creative with the PowerPoint and visualize my business ideas. In addition, I enjoyed doing the market research survey.”

ABOUT: Women’s Business Leadership Class
Who takes the class? Individuals with business and non business majors, undergraduate and graduate students. Many international students who are part of a State Department cultural exchange program conversant in English are taking the class. Students who a take the class want to:

Note: This class is NOT for registered students of the George Washington University to whom the Women's Entrepreneurial Leadership Class (MGT 190/290) is available.

Where: GW's Foggy Bottom Campus.
When: 10/6 through 12/15 8:00 to 10:00 pm, (Weds nights - no class 11/24)
Hours: 36 hours per semester. A letter will be provided to all participants confirming their participation. University credit is not provided. Cultural exchange students: This class fulfills 36 of your 72 hours of required education.
* In addition to homework, there is approximately one hour required each week for group meetings outside of class.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q: Why should I sign up for the class NOW when it starts in October?
A: Because the class fills up. To guarantee your space, register by orange button at the top of this page that says "guarantee place in class" to register and pay. Registration will close September 30.
Q: If something happens, and I cannot take the class, will I get my money back?
A: Yes. Refunds are provided less the processing fee until two weeks before the first class (9/22)
Q: Where is it?
A: Foggy Bottom Campus of the George Washington University
Q: How many credit hours is it? Will I get a letter?
A: The class is 36 hours. You will get a letter acknowledging your completion of the course. Cultural Exchange Students: This is an approved class which fulfills 36 of your 72 hours of education required by the State Department.
Q: What does “meetings outside of class” mean?
A: Each week you will be responsible for having a team meeting in person, or via conference call. This will teach you about group dynamics, organization, and technology – all totally essential for business.
Q: What type of business are we studying?
A: This class is focused on skills for entrepreneurship, and general women’s leadership so you can have skills that will help you be successful in any job, or starting your own business.
Q: I am not confident in my English skills, should I take the class?
A: You should be able to converse in English, and understand spoken English. If you are not sure, consider waiting a semester to take the class.
